Update and Praise

Today Carling got a call from someone at Heartfelt Calling, which is somehow involved with DSS in adoption. They were just asking how things were going with our adoption. It is very encouraging having the people we work with who are helping and checking up on us.

Anyways, Carling told her where we were in the process, and she was very impressed, and said we were about halfway done with the whole process (minus waiting time)! That is an awesome thing, considering how overwhelming the giant packet of stuff was at the beginning.

It is also a huge testament to Carling's diligence and hard work in getting the paperwork done soon. If it were up to me, we would still need to call to get started :). Diligence in paperwork is not my strong suit, but praise God He gave me a wife who is great at it!

Even though we are relieved at this great news, we still need lots of prayer for continued diligence and patience.

Thanks for reading and praying.

Cool Stuff, pt 2

I'll have a more thorough post on this in a day or two, but I wanted update everyone on our last post.

We received our bracelets from Remnant's KIN campaign a few days ago. They are awesome. I'll have some more, more detailed, and better quality pictures on the bigger post, but here's a teaser.

Many thanks to Remnant for these awesome bracelets. We love them.

We also got a big bag of stuff from The Sparrow Fund. All cool stuff. We would put some pictures of them up, but don't want to spoil the surprise (they're all gifts).

Support Adoption, Get Cool Stuff

What if I told you that you could support adoption individually, in general, domestically, and abroad, and get cool handmade stuff?

Well you can! A lot of people and organizations make really cool stuff and sell it, with all or most of the profits going towards adoption.

Today I just learned of a new one: remnant is a husband and wife team in North Carolina that makes cool bags. They're also adopting a child, and making handmade leather bracelets to help fund their adoption. You can see the bracelets at the website. The project is called "KIN," representing an investment in family: not just in theirs, but in the idea of bringing families to orphans.

Plus they look awesome! Carling and I are getting these for each other for Christmas.

Here are some other cool websites where the profits benefit adoption:

147
Amazima Ministries
The Sparrow Fund
Just Love Coffee - for this, families can set up storefronts where parts of proceeds from coffee sales goes towards their adoptions.

Christmas is just around the corner, and it isn't a bad idea to get a head start on your gifts. I hope you will consider shopping at these and other stores like them, where you can get great stuff, all while making a difference in the lives of orphans.

Thanks for reading!

Updates

Hello everyone. Good news! We are almost completely done with our paperwork (all due to Carling's vigilance  of course)! Our goal is to finish our paperwork and send it in before we leave for Florida for Christmas. We still have to have our physicals (all of us), and fingerprints (this Saturday afternoon).

Please pray for us to be diligent with this, but also that we would trust in the Lord and await His timing.

Our next step after all this paperwork is attending training classes, and having some inspections by the Fire Marshall. Then would be home studies and interviews. And then some waiting - which will be the hardest part!

We appreciate your prayers and encouragement.

Happy Adoption Month! Take some time to talk about adoption, both physical and spiritual, and pray for orphans around the world, that God would bring them a loving family, and peace.

Soli Deo Gloria
